Construction Inspector

As a key member of our team, the Engineering Technician plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of our construction projects. This exciting opportunity involves performing on-site testing and inspections, as well as providing accurate documentation and reports to project managers.

• Conduct thorough site visits and inspections to verify compliance with project specifications.
• Collect and analyze data from soil samples, including physical index properties, permeability, and moisture-density relationships.
• Assist geotechnical engineers in conducting site investigations, such as soil borings and test pit excavations, as well as field permeability/percolation tests.
• Pickup and deliver samples to laboratories for further analysis.
• Review and reference project documents, including site-civil, structural, architectural plans, geotechnical reports, and topographic surveys.
• Conduct regular inspections of structural steel and steel reinforcement systems.
• Perform footing subgrade inspections to assess soil composition and bearing capacity, and determine depth of overexcavation for unsuitable subgrade soils.
• Monitor earthwork activities, including compaction testing of structural fill material.
• Communicate effectively with contractors and project managers to ensure smooth project execution.
• Maintain calibrated instruments, collect and report data, manage lab supply/inventory, and assist in preparing reports and presentations.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures at all times.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 0-4 years of experience in construction inspection or laboratory testing.
• Valid driver's license and ability to maintain/operate personal/company vehicle.
• Hands-on experience with metric and English tools.
• ACI concrete field-testing technician certificate, accredited construction inspection/materials testing certificates, OSHA 40, OSHA 10, and/or APNGA gauge training (preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to understand general computer commands and learn supporting software for entering field data, laboratory data, timesheets, etc.
• Independent and critical thinking abilities.
• Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
