As a Climate Change Mitigation Consultant with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the GEF-8 net-zero nature-positive accelerator project in Trinidad and Tobago.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and executing the project preparation grant process, developing full CEO endorsement request packages, and ensuring adherence to GEF guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills, a strong understanding of climate change mitigation strategies, and the ability to work effectively with national counterparts and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of CEO endorsement documents and their attachments.
- Design substantive elements of CEO endorsement documents and annexes, including log-frames, budgets, indicators, and risk assessments.
- Organize and undertake country scoping missions and stakeholder consultation workshops.
- Prepare mission reports, validation workshop reports, and stakeholder consultation reports.
- Align project elements with national strategic and planning documents.
- Inform UNEP on the status of work and highlight risks related to the quality of information received and the fulfillment of project development schedules.
Requirements:
- Strong project management skills and experience in climate change mitigation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with national counterparts and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of GEF guidelines and project preparation processes.
Working Conditions:
The consultant will work remotely and will be required to travel to Trinidad and Tobago for country scoping missions and stakeholder consultation workshops.
