System Infrastructure Specialist

As a critical systems professional, you will operate and maintain infrastructure solutions that ensure customer success.

Key responsibilities include planning maintenance activities, designing documentation, and creating standard procedures. Root Cause Analysis reports for outages/incidents will be produced using ITIL - Problem Management principles.

Additionally, you will assess the client's current infrastructure state, identifying opportunities to improve resiliency, reduce incident occurrence, and automate administrative tasks.

You will collaborate with colleagues to contribute to continuous improvement of our work processes. You will lead technical discussions on technology roadmaps for clients, driving strategic conversations.

The ideal candidate has experience working with multiple cloud providers, including Google and AWS Clouds, deploying infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Terraform, OpsWorks, etc. Scripting and automation of administrative tasks using Python and Scala is essential.

A solid understanding of microservices architecture and container technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, LXC, etc., is required. A clear grasp of software development lifecycles and best practices from an infrastructure viewpoint is also necessary.

Understanding of end-to-end operations of 'Business Systems' versus individual components is key. Comprehensive hardware and network troubleshooting experience is expected.

Common Linux distribution platform installation, configuration, performance tuning, and cloud migration are necessary skills. TCP/IP networking, NIC bonding, and network services configuration are also important.

Virtual infrastructure operation and administration, including hypervisor experience, is required. Ability to describe IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, pros and cons, use cases for virtualization and cloud is crucial.

Web server administration and supporting technologies, including network load balancers, are essential. Experience with Puppet design, development, and deployment is desirable. System and application error investigation, troubleshooting of access/availability issues is vital.

Experience managing networking devices, such as switches and firewalls from various vendors, is necessary. Solid understanding of DevOps tools, processes, and culture is required. Ability to quickly learn new technologies is essential.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in system reliability engineering or equivalent field
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing and operating complex systems
  • Strong knowledge of Linux distributions and their configurations
  • Experience with cloud providers, including AWS and Google Cloud
  • Scripting skills in languages like Python and Scala
  • Containerization skills using Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture and software development lifecycles
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive results-oriented discussions
