Job Title: Firefighter

At Amentum, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firefighter to join our team at McMurdo and South Pole Stations in Antarctica.

Job Summary:

The Firefighter will be responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace. This includes complying with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals, providing documentation to these divisions as necessary, and implementing the USAP Fire Prevention Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Fire/EMS/Crash Fire (ARFF)/hazardous materials emergency response
• Implement the fire prevention programs that conform to the United States Antarctic Program
• Ensure that equipment is operational and able to function within the Fire Prevention and Disaster Preparedness Program for McMurdo Station
• Respond to emergencies, disasters, and hazardous material spills according to the responsibilities identified in the Disaster Preparedness Plan for McMurdo Station
• Interact with National Science Foundation, military, and other agency officials in a professional and tactful manner
• Perform duties in support of Operations Division metrics

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Firefighter II
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Airport Fire Fighter
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD, or State Certified Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations Level
• CPR Certification
• National Incident Management System (NIMS): ICS 100 and 200
• Two years previous full-time firefighting experience, volunteer experience, or paid on-call time

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate of Science degree in Fire Science
• EMT-B or higher
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD or State Certified Driver Operator Pumper / Mobile Water Supply
• IFSAC, Pro-Board/DoD or State Certified Driver Operator ARFF

Physical and/or Other Requirements:

• Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
• Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
• Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer
• Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
• Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum
• Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold
