Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to join our TripIt team. As a Backend Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering new features as part of an agile team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new features using cloud-first concepts and technologies, including containerization, serverless architecture, and NoSQL data stores.
  • Work closely with product management, interaction designers, and other engineering teams to incorporate feedback and ensure seamless integration.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve TripIt's robustness, scalability, and user-friendliness.
  • Own cloud services end-to-end, delivering distributed systems using AWS native services.
  • Execute with an enterprise cloud mindset to deliver on security, compliance, and infrastructure initiatives with engineering program management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technology-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, etc.).
  • Professional software development experience, with a preference for developing consumer web applications.
  • Expertise with server-side web frameworks (Python/Django or PHP/Symfony preferred).
  • DevOps mentality with an understanding of Continuous Delivery and Observability.
  • Knowledge of one or more relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Postgres, Oracle) and familiarity with NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, and AWS primitives (e.g., EC2, AMIs, EKS, Dynamo).
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts across an organization.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native solutions is preferred.
  • Experience in travel technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
