Senior Software Engineer

- The role involves shaping the future of the operating system through new ideas and advising on ongoing work.
- Collaboration with other teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, upstream projects, and commercially supported customers is essential.
- Owning the maintenance of server packages, traditional server workloads, virtualization, containers, package management, dependencies, language runtimes, and toolchains is crucial.
- The ideal candidate must love technology and working with brilliant people.
- They should be curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
- Value soft skills and be passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.
- Interest or experience in open source maintenance or contributions is desirable.
- Able to handle complex workloads and systems, write detailed test plans, and reproducibility steps.
- Comfortable contributing and debugging multiple languages, including C/C++, Python, Rust, Go, Ruby, PHP.
- Experience in packaging in one or more ecosystems is necessary.
- Knowledge of containers and virtual machines is essential.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or similar field (or higher) or equivalent professional experience (5+ years).
