About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team at General Motors, specializing in the development and implementation of complex Roof and Vision systems. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating these systems to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop Roof and Vision systems, including Roof Rack, Glasses, Wiper and Washers, Rearview Mirrors, Air inlet Panels, and Fuel Filler Doors.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations and concept development across vehicle programs.
  • Utilize engineering tools, such as DFMEA, ICDs, and PFMEA, to successfully develop the best system solution.
  • Assess design to manufacturing processes and package components.
  • Manage CAD development through suppliers or GM designers and collaborate with other systems within the vehicle.
  • Schedule and lead Peer Reviews.
  • Work cross-functionally to support initial vehicle configuration work, realize cost optimization, deliver customer-driven requirements, and implement product and process improvements.
  • Balance business imperatives, including cost, mass, complexity, timing, and content.
  • Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations and lead the product development team.
  • Track and resolve open issues with support.
  • Review, support, and apply benchmarking for design direction competitiveness.
  • Support in the development of Statement of Requirements (SOR) creation and lead in the development of statements of work.
  • Participate in launch activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Production).
  • Experience with proven technical and professional skills in job-related area.
  • Fluency in English Language.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and international).
  • Self-motivated to work independently.
  • Ability to contribute to technical projects and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willing to gain specific training from a variety of people/techniques.
  • Exhibits appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and executing technical solutions to support new vehicle programs.
  • Experience applying the results of CAE analysis to optimize performance.
  • Experience/knowledge of manufacturing techniques and/or material sciences of Suspension and Isolation components.
  • Experience with engineering tools (e.g. GD&T, DFMEA, SOR, Change Orders, etc.).
  • Able to navigate and execute in Math Data Viewing and Analysis/Engineering Change Release.
  • Demonstrated ability in packaging of components within vehicles systems, ability to make tradeoffs when needed, and negotiate with cross-functional partners and suppliers.
  • Comfortable working with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
  • Ability to deal optimally with ambiguity and forward-thinking environment.
