We are seeking an exceptional Marketing & Community Specialist to join our team. This role is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in marketing and community building to support the growth of a cutting-edge open-source operating system.
About the Role
- This position involves leading and executing Linux community-driven marketing efforts and campaigns.
- You will create and manage engaging content, including blog posts, newsletters, press releases, and social media communications.
- Defining and maintaining the brand voice and tone across platforms is another key responsibility.
- Recruiting, onboarding, and supporting volunteers and contributors will be crucial to the success of this role.
- You will also manage and moderate community forums to ensure helpful and inclusive participation.
- Planning and running events like AlmaLinux Days and industry conferences will be essential to building strong relationships with sponsors, contributors, and other open-source projects.
- Last but not least, measuring and optimizing outreach, engagement, and impact using data and community feedback is vital to this position's success.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, community building, or developer-focused outreach.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive community interactions with care.
- A solid understanding of Linux, open-source ecosystems, and technical communities.
- Comfortable working independently in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
- Familiarity with tools like Git, Markdown, simple website platforms, Canva or Adobe Illustrator, and basic video editors.
- Bonus points if you've organized events, contributed to open source, or have a background in design or user experience.
