The Role of a Specialist Teacher in Portuguese Language and Social Studies

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching classes, preparing content, and managing student learning in school environments. This role follows the Red House pedagogical plan.

  1. Teaching Classes and Guiding Student Learning:

    As a Specialist Teacher in Portuguese Language and Social Studies, you will teach classes and guide student learning, promoting teaching and learning experiences based on the Red House pedagogical plan and the special needs of each student.

  2. School Pedagogical Proposal:

    You should know the school's Pedagogical Proposal, the approach adopted, and the learning expectations of the specific grade.

  3. Student Evolution Analysis:

    Analyze the students' evolution in the learning process, collecting evidence and paying attention to individual needs, defining actions to improve performance.

  4. Strategies for Improvement:

    Develop strategies with the coordination to promote the improvement and engagement of students, based on observation and evidence collection.

  5. Special Support:

    Promote special classes and different strategies for students who have learning difficulties.

  6. Adaptations and Accommodations:

    Prepare adaptations and accommodate activities for students with special educational needs.

  7. Student Safety:

    Ensure safety and constantly stay with students, observing, guiding, and interfering when necessary to prevent accidents.

  8. Observation and Reporting:

    Carefully observe students' attitudes and behaviors to identify conditions of illness, providing necessary actions.

  9. Communication and Reporting:

    Report to the coordinator the observed behaviors and students' performance, keeping families informed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of professional experience and other professional qualification in Portuguese and/or English.
  • Fluent English (Portuguese or English is a must).
  • Intermediate English skills.
  • Bilingualism.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • IB Methodology knowledge.
  • Digital Thinking, Caring Profile, Interpersonal Relationships, Conflict Management, Creativity, Collaboration, Autonomy, and Proactivity.
