Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of our relational data systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining schemas, building models, and enforcing standards that ensure the reliability, security, and high performance of our data—both online and offline.

This is a full-time contract position with competitive pay. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of relational database design, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL.

As a Data Architect, your primary focus will be on creating logical and physical data models that scale with complex, multi-tenant applications. You will also be responsible for tuning queries, indexes, and partitioning strategies to achieve maximum performance and reliability.

Additionally, you will support ETL/ELT processes and ensure robust data synchronization across distributed environments. You will work closely with developers and product teams to ensure that the database architecture supports real-world use cases.

You will establish standards for data quality, retention, lineage, and compliance (SOC2, GDPR, etc.). This includes defining naming conventions, coding standards, and best practices to ensure long-term maintainability.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in relational database design (PostgreSQL strongly preferred)
  • Strong command of SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning
  • Experience with schema normalization/denormalization and partitioning strategies
  • Familiarity with backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery planning
  • Solid understanding of security practices: encryption, access controls, and auditing
  • Background in designing for multi-tenant or large-scale transactional systems
