Senior Android Developer Wanted

Speechify aims to eliminate reading barriers, enabling 30 million users to convert text into audio. This mission is driven by a team of distributed professionals from top tech companies.
As the Android app's user base grows, we seek a Senior Android Engineer to support new users and develop innovative projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Owning major features and collaborating with the design team for high-quality feature delivery.
- Shaping the future of our Android team.
- Ensuring reliability metrics for key features.
- Participating in cross-team discussions (Product, Design, Engineering).
- Reviewing pull requests and supporting teammates.
- Handling critical issues or unexpected challenges.
The ideal candidate has:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with Android components.
- Experience building or contributing to at least one Android app.
- Product design intuition and user empathy.
- Drive to push Android UI/UX boundaries.
- Understanding of tests and test writing.
- Self-drive to improve the app and codebase beyond specifications.
- Rock-solid experience with Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android Animations, Jetpack Navigation, JUnit tests.
Bonus qualifications include:
- Experience contributing to open-source Android projects.
- Experience with iOS, Web, or NodeJS.
