Job Title:

Technical Director of Personalization

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Director of Personalization to lead our personalization and optimization systems. This individual contributor role requires a deep technical expert who will define our ML architecture, solve complex technical challenges, and influence ML strategy across the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement a company-wide personalization architecture and strategy
  • Solve complex technical challenges in personalization, including cold start, exploration/exploitation, and real-time learning
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art ML techniques for personalization
  • Define standards and patterns used across all ML teams for personalization
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning multiple quarters to drive personalization innovation
  • Mentor senior engineers and review critical technical decisions related to personalization
Requirements:
  • 10+ years building ML systems with deep expertise in personalization
  • Recognized expert in ML systems with publications, patents, or industry impact in personalization
  • Experience architecting ML platforms serving billions of predictions for personalization
  • Track record of 0→1 innovation in personalization systems with measurable impact
  • Expertise in multiple approaches for personalization, including deep learning, bandits, causal ML, and graph methods
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive consensus on personalization strategy
  • Exceptional communication skills for technical and executive audiences on personalization topics
