Key Responsibilities

  • Calculate and review corporate income tax computations prepared either internally or by external service providers, including return to provision calculations, deferred tax accounting under Brazil GAAP and IFRS, and preparing the necessary journal entries.
  • Oversee other tax filings, both direct and indirect, such as PIS/COFINS, ICMS, IPI, IOF, and EFD, ensuring accurate calculations.
  • Ensure timely submission of all tax filings in compliance with local regulations, including proper input into the tax portal.
  • Review and supervise the preparation of tax return payments and estimated tax payments for both direct and indirect taxes.
  • Prepare tax provisions in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP.
  • Assess and calculate uncertain tax positions in line with IFRIC 23.
  • Conduct account reconciliations for tax accounts.
  • Manage, review, or prepare responses to eCAC notices, tax assessments, and audits.
  • Monitor legislative changes and evaluate their impact on the company, providing guidance to ensure compliance with new tax requirements.
  • Address internal inquiries regarding various tax-related issues.
  • Review and assist in the preparation of transfer pricing documentation.
  • Support tax technical research and analysis.
  • Maintain the tax calendar.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Identify and capture opportunities for process improvements.
  • Collaborate with staff to establish goals and objectives, offering performance feedback.

Required Skills

  • Over 7 years of experience in a large corporate tax environment, preferably with a Big 4 firm.
  • Proven project management skills and experience in improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with TaxOne.
  • Ability to lead a team of professional employees.
  • Proficient in delivering constructive feedback to team members.
  • Skilled in identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of conducting technical research and mentoring staff in research techniques.
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced environment requiring prioritization and multitasking.
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.

Education, Certifications & Licenses

  • Master's degree in Taxation or Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
