Chief Software Development Engineer

We are looking for an experienced software development engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-impact customer features that delight our customers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with experience in languages such as Golang, Python, C++, and Rust. They will also have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing applications and features on eero's operating system, which spans across all eero hardware. You will also be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the eeroOS operating system and build infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, deploy and maintain high impact customer features that delight our customers
- Develop applications and features in Golang, Python, C++, or Rust on eero's operating system
- Maintain and continuously improve the eeroOS operating system and build infrastructure
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience)
- 4+ years of systems programming experience on Linux systems
- 3+ years experience writing high quality code in C or C++ and Go and/or Python
We are looking for candidates who have additional experience in the following areas:
- Full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Experience with network stack/socket programming protocol development or any previous middleware development
- Maintaining and improving build infrastructure such as Yocto, OpenWRT
- Linux kernel and Linux device drivers experience
- Jenkins and CI infrastructure experience
