**Software Engineer Position Overview**

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining specialist Python tools to support the developer build and publication process.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in Python and a strong understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution. They will also have a good understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation.

  • Expertise in Python programming language.

  • Experience working with container technology, such as Docker, Kubernetes and LXD.
  • Ability to extend the snap build ecosystem using familiarity with languages, toolchains, frameworks, integrations and CI systems.

As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with external open source and commercial projects to understand how we can better serve community needs. You will also be responsible for designing and maintaining specialist Python tools to support the developer build and publication process.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software development.
  • Expertise in Python programming language.
  • Strong understanding of the makeup of a modern GNU/Linux distribution.
  • Good understanding of build systems and toolchains, including for cross-compilation.
