Job Overview

The Special Collections Librarian is a pivotal role in managing the School of Law Library's archives and special collections.

  • Responsible for organizing and cataloging archival and special collections in accordance with best practices.
  • Delivers reference services and fosters relationships with alumni, community organizations, and engages in initiatives that promote the special collections and archives.

This position requires strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and project management skills to manage deadlines and expectations.

Responsibilities
  1. Manages and processes rare books and other printed materials, archival materials in all formats for the law library archives and special collections department.
  2. Develops processing plans for new materials and backlog.
  3. Creates digital collections and finding aids in the University's institutional repository.
  4. Engages in education planning and instruction for first-year legal research and advanced legal research courses.
  5. Designs and develops library displays to showcase special collections programs and events.

The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library and information science program, a commitment to advancing the missions of the law school and library, and a positive, solutions-driven approach to challenges.
