Job Title: Agricultural Specialist

Job Classification: Regular, Full Time

Job Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Department: Greenhouse – Various HUB

Reports To: Grower

Job Summary: Participates in the operation of spraying and applying chemicals for insect and disease control.

Required responsibilities include working closely with Assistant Growers to decide which plants will be treated, revising plants before spraying, and having a full knowledge and understanding of the chemicals used.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with Assistant Growers to decide which plants will be treated.
2. Revise plants before spraying.
3. Have full knowledge and understanding of the chemicals used.
4. Post all spraying signs before starting applications.
5. Conduct spraying operations responsibly and safely.
6. Assist in Irrigation and plant rotation as needed.
7. Assist in getting rid of weeds with a hoe and by spraying herbicide.
8. Operate a tractor to move application equipment.
9. Work responsibly and safely at all times.

Requirements:

• Equivalent to four years of high school or GED.
• 7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training.
• Able to pass respirator use requirements.
• Will to take a blood test when needed.

Additional Requirements:

Ability to perform prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, walking, grasping, climbing, pulling, pushing, and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs.
