Planner Engineer Position

Atlantic Nickel offers an opportunity to work on long-term mine planning, focusing on the preparation and management of mine plans and technical support for project feasibility studies.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and update long-term mine plans for open-pit and underground mines, aligning with production goals, strategic premises, and operational constraints;
  • Develop and evaluate financially strategic scenarios, considering material movements, transportation distances, and operating costs;
  • Participate in the development of economic viability studies for mineral projects, focusing on mine planning, pit optimization, fleet sizing, and cost estimates;
  • Manage technical deliveries from national and international consultancies, critically evaluating parameters, methodologies, and sequencing for technical report execution (NI 43-101, JORC, or similar);
  • Validate the consistency of plans generated by sequence software (Deswik) and optimization projects (NPVS), ensuring practical feasibility of proposed solutions;
  • Suggest continuous improvements in planning processes, aiming for efficiency, technical robustness, and adherence to project schedules;
  • Support operations related to long-term activities, particularly sequence and reconciliation tasks;
  • Support the multidisciplinary team with technical analysis for decision-making;
  • Attend technical and management meetings for complete interaction between mine planning information and other areas;
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and corporate governance directives.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Graduation in Mining Engineering with active CREA registration;
  • Experience in long-term mine planning and feasibility studies;
  • Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Datamine, or similar);
  • Knowledge of economic modeling and mine cost analysis;
  • Experience working with international technical consultancies and familiarity with technical report standards (e.g., NI 43-101);
  • Understanding of interpretation, validation, and critical review of mining scenarios and technical premises;
  • Advanced English – reading, writing, and verbal communication skills for interaction with international teams and companies.
