School-Based Counselor

We are seeking a skilled School-Based Counselor to join our team at Fsacares in Santa Maria. As a School-Based Counselor, you will work with at-risk elementary and secondary school students and their families, providing essential support and guidance to help them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.

• Collaborate with school-based support teams to identify high-risk children and families, and develop strategies to support their social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.
• Provide direct counseling services to high-risk children and families, including individual and group therapy sessions.
• Assist students in developing essential life skills, such as assertiveness, communication, goal-setting, and problem-solving.
• Network and refer families to community-based agencies and resources to ensure comprehensive support.
• Attend Child Study Team meetings to discuss high-risk children and families, and develop plans to support their needs.
• Provide consultation to teachers, counselors, and other school personnel to ensure a comprehensive approach to supporting at-risk students.

• Master's degree in a relevant field, such as counseling or psychology, and licensure as an AMFT, ASW, APCC, LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in good standing with the BBS in CA.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with children and/or teens, preferably in a school-based setting.
• Excellent analytical, computer, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively in a team environment.
• Valid CA driver's license and auto insurance.
