Energy Efficiency Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to help residents reduce their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving home efficiency, reducing emissions, and promoting sustainable living. As an Energy Efficiency Specialist, you will play a crucial role in addressing opportunities for energy-saving upgrades, such as insulation, air sealing, solar panels, and appliance improvements through consultations and energy assessments.

Responsibilities include:

• Creating comprehensive Home Efficiency Plans for homeowners, identifying potential energy-saving measures and providing detailed information on the benefits of each upgrade.
• Utilizing diagnostic tools like blower door tests and combustion safety tests to evaluate home performance and provide expert advice on how to improve it.
• Developing personalized reports that help clients make informed decisions about home improvements that save them money and reduce their carbon footprint.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Providing ongoing education directly to clients about the benefits and prioritization of various interventions that address health, safety, durability, and energy efficiency.
• Communicating complex technical information in plain language to clients.
• Collaborating with lending staff to guide clients through the bid collection and review process, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project scope.
• Conducting quality control assessments to ensure that the work completed meets program requirements and reduces carbon emissions effectively.
• Inspecting construction projects periodically to ensure quality and compliance with programmatic standards.

Required qualifications include:

• Minimum certification as BPI Building Analyst Professional.
• Preferred certification as BPI Healthy Homes Evaluator and Quality Control Inspector.
• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Familiarity with fundamentals of residential home construction, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, roofing, framing, etc.
• At least three years of experience in energy efficiency or related fields.
• Relevant experience in energy auditing is preferred.
• Project management and construction experience preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred.

Homewise provides additional training as needed in the first six months after hiring. This position requires mobility to navigate various home environments. The ability to operate blower door test, infrared camera, and climb ladder is also required. Must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, crawl on hands and knees, wear PPE.
