About the Role

In this exciting opportunity, you will have the chance to lead our research efforts and drive innovation in machine learning and natural language processing. As a Lead Research Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and partnering with other engineers to develop and improve methodology and evolve the technology stack.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of software engineers
  • Direct the efforts of a small team of software engineers to ensure a high-performance culture and nurture their career development
  • Apply modern software development practices to build, test, and deliver high-quality solutions
  • Create large-scale data processing pipelines to help researchers build and train novel machine learning algorithms
  • Develop high-performing scalable systems in the context of large online delivery environments
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional and remote teams to share information and value diverse ideas
  • Deliver timely solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Contribute innovative ideas, create solutions, and be accountable for end-to-end deliveries
  • Effectively articulate ideas and collaborate on technical developments with cross-functional partners and team members
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in software engineering, machine learning, and natural language processing. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or a related field
  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience, ideally in the context of machine learning and natural language processing
  • Experience leading technical workstreams within a software engineering organization
  • Experience with people management responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of Python software development stacks and ecosystems, with experience with other programming languages and ecosystems a plus
  • Ability to understand, apply, integrate, and deploy machine learning capabilities and techniques into other systems
  • Familiarity with the Python data science stack, including libraries such as Numpy, Scipy, Pandas, Dask, spaCy, NLTK, and scikit-learn
  • Proficiency in automation, system monitoring, and cloud-native applications, with familiarity in AWS or Azure (or a related cloud platform)
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Desire to learn and embrace new and emerging technology
  • Familiarity with probabilistic models and understanding of the mathematical concepts underlying machine learning methods
