We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Specialist to join our team at Dow. As an Accounting Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements and supporting the management and Senior Accounting Leader in the Financial and Statutory Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statement footnotes and supporting schedules, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS principles.
  2. Accounting Close: Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting close, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  3. Accounting Policies and Procedures: Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP and IFRS principles.
  4. Financial Analysis: Prepare fluctuation analysis and performance of financial statement analytics, providing meaningful explanations for fluctuations to senior management.
  5. Internal Controls: Implement and document internal controls and procedures as required by SOX.
  6. Process Improvement: Participate in process streamlining and improvement projects to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  7. Financial Audits: Assist with annual financial audits and quarterly reviews with external auditors, including preparation and review of schedules.
  8. Stakeholder Interaction: Interact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely communication.
  9. Team Collaboration: Coordinate closely with other finance teams to ensure complete and accurate accruals.
  10. Leadership Support: Support the leadership with accounting analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
  11. Work Planning: Plan and structure work activities, set deadlines, and monitor progress and results.
  12. Special Projects: Represent F&S in special projects, such as M&A.
  13. Accounting Functions: Participate in various accounting functions, including general ledger maintenance, review of the financial scorecard, US GAAP to Statutory, reconciliations, and ensure compliance to operational policies and processes.

Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting with active Brazilian Accounting Certification (CRC).
  2. Expertise: Expertise in Brazilian GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulations.
  3. US GAAP and IFRS: Understanding of US GAAP and applicable accounting rules and regulations.
  4. SAP/ECC Experience: Experience working with SAP/ECC.
  5. Work Experience: Five or more years of relevant work experience preferred in the manufacturing industry.
  6. Financial Statement Preparation: Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements, external audit attendance, general ledger posting, and accounting reconciliation.
  7. SOX and Accounting Best Practices: Knowledge of SOX, US GAAP, and IFRS accounting best practices and cross-functional accounting impacts.
  8. Language Skills: Advanced English Level.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Spanish Language: Intermediate/Advanced Spanish – not mandatory but will be considered a plus.
  2. Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal relationship, teamwork, collaborative, and hands-on.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
