The role of Health, Safety and Environment Senior Advisor is vital in supporting the HSE function within an organization.

Key Responsibilities

The senior advisor ensures the application of corporate policies, develops and implements security policies, guidelines, procedures and protocols for the security of company assets, projects and business travels.

To support the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) function within an organization by ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards, conducting risk assessments, developing strategies to mitigate risks and preventing incidents.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local, state and federal health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments, develop strategies to mitigate risks and prevent incidents.
  • HSE Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement and enforce policies; communicate and ensure understanding and adherence.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs; create educational materials and promote awareness.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents and incidents; implement corrective actions.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Develop and maintain plans; organize drills and exercises.
  • Inspections and Audits: Conduct inspections; address identified issues.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data; prepare reports for management and authorities.
  • Collaboration with Departments: Work with operations, engineering, HR to integrate HSE considerations.
  • Environmental Management: Manage environmental programs; implement impact reduction strategies.
  • Communication: Communicate HSE issues; foster a safety culture.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify improvement opportunities; stay informed on best practices.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records for inspections and audits.
Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare or Environmental Science required.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years in health, safety and environmental roles, especially in oil and gas, infrastructure construction, with experience in risk assessments, incident investigations and HSE programs in Brazil.
  • Occupational Safety Technician qualification per Brazilian legislation (NR4). Lead Auditor ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications are required.
  • Relevant certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, CSP, OHST, ASP, NEBOSH, OSHA 30/40-Hour are advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of Brazilian HSE regulations for engineering, oil and gas and construction sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills in Portuguese and English.
  • Collaboration skills for effective teamwork.
  • Expertise in risk assessments, audits, incident investigations and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement HSE strategies and policies.
