Technical Artist

We are seeking an experienced Technical Artist to join our team and take on a key role in the Gaming Studio. As a Technical Artist, you will play a vital part in the game development process by assisting in the identification and optimization of game content.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with design and art leadership to realize their creative vision and achieve aesthetic and gameplay goals
  • Create or assist in the creation of complex assets that require specialized knowledge
  • Develop and extend workflows to improve the efficiency of the art team using Python, Houdini, Maya, and proprietary tools
  • Support the content team in debugging issues with the game and tools
  • Provide day-to-day Art and Tech team support
  • Assist other team members in achieving their tasks more efficiently
  • Document systems and art pipelines
  • Design and create samples, examples, and prototypes
  • Advise on best practices for optimizing memory budgets for art assets
  • Document and iterate on processes for improving performance optimization of art assets
  • Manage and maintain art-specific tools
  • Help, train, and guide other Technical Artists
Requirements:
  • Portfolio showcasing your best work, including a breakdown of your most relevant projects
  • Self-motivation and a willingness to solve creative problems
  • Expert knowledge in one 3D package (Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender) for production
  • Houdini knowledge and experience
  • Scripting skills in languages such as MEL script, Max Script, Python/PyMel, PS Action Script, Lua, C#, or equivalents
  • Ability to create 3D art pipelines and document processes
  • Understanding of how to optimize game assets and levels
  • Able to identify inefficiencies and create scripts to automate processes
  • Strong understanding of rendering budgets and technical constraints related to performance in real-time engines
  • Ability to adapt rapidly to new technology and find ways to evolve and improve the environment creation pipeline
  • Active interest in current video games to drive innovation and excellence
  • Solid organizational skills, including adherence to file structures, naming conventions, and established protocols
  • Excellent self-management skills, including task length estimates and deadlines
  • Experience with Character Rigging tools and pipelines
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and constraints while embracing change
  • Clear communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Game Engine Experience UE3, UE4, Unity 3D, and others
  • Good understanding of PBR principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English
  • C/C++, Kismet, Blueprint, Uscript, LUA is a plus
