Dnata, a leading aviation assistance company in Brazil, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). As a key member of the executive team, the COO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations, driving growth, and ensuring the company's continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective operational strategies to improve profitability and margin, drive increased demand, and enhance service quality while maintaining safety standards.
  • Work closely with the executive team to define and execute operational and growth plans, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives and strategic vision.
  • Translate business strategies into functional strategies and business goals for growth, profitability, and performance.
  • Maintain an understanding of the business and plan functional activities with an annual plan.
  • Provide integrated vision, strategic plans, and targets for all operational units aligned to overall strategy.
  • Develop and implement policies and processes to ensure procedural and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
  • Contribute to the annual forecasting and budgeting process and deliver the operational budget.
  • Monitor financial performance against set budgets to ensure delivery against set targets.
  • Optimize resource allocation and costs to match business needs and lead unit managers to achieve this in each location.
  • Drive change through continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices within function remit to maximize efficiencies in line with agreed targets.
  • Conduct research to identify new markets, customers' needs, and opportunities.
  • Make recommendations to the CEO for investment in operational improvement initiatives where required.
  • Effectively balance short-term and long-term considerations when dealing with problems relevant to the function.
  • Produce accurate reporting and recommend to executive leadership.
  • Ensure compliance to required standards as set in 'The Dnata Way' and to state/local legislations.
  • Oversee non-compliance reports and ensure resolution.
  • Ensure all operational services adhere to airline and airport operations stipulated rules and regulations.
  • Act in the best interest of the company at all times, ensuring business decisions are made following appropriate due diligence.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships and relationships with clients, external stakeholders, and key external parties to foster revenue growth opportunities.
  • Drive the Dnata Vision, Mission, and Values in the business and model the behaviors and intent of the VMV's in all people practices.
  • Set clear and measurable objectives for direct reports and drive performance accountability.
  • Work with local HR to ensure effective Talent Management and Succession Planning are in place to mitigate the risks of skills gaps.
  • Lead with safety as a priority, ensuring all decisions are made with safety in mind.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of best practice safety management system and regularly monitor its effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or related areas and a minimum of 12 years' experience in operational management roles within a large-scale organization.

Minimum of 10 years' airline industry experience.

Ground handling experience preferred.

Industrial Relations experience in Brazil (or similar market).

Track record leading a Merger & Acquisition integration project is an asset.

Experience in strategic planning.

Fluent in English and Portuguese.

Spanish is a plus.

A hands-on approach and a passion for people.
