Application Security Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Application Security Engineer to join our global security team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding digital assets and data through advanced cybersecurity solutions and processes.

  • Safeguard digital assets and data through advanced cybersecurity solutions and processes.
  • Identify and mitigate security risks in applications, working with developers to secure code and remediation efforts.
  • Participate in incident response and security incident investigations related to application security.
  • Collaborate with development teams to provide guidance on secure coding practices and remediation of security issues or misconfigurations.
  • Develop and maintain security standards, policies, procedures, work instructions and requirements related to application security.
  • Automate vulnerability scanning and compliance checks into development workflows.
  • Conduct architecture security reviews of applications and secure cloud-native services (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Perform penetration testing, code reviews, and vulnerability scanning for web and mobile applications.
  • Stay current with security trends, threats, and vulnerabilities affecting application security.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the technology development lifecycle.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in cloud ecosystems (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Develop, maintain and run security automation scripts using languages such as Python or other scripting languages.
  • Knowledge of DNS and IP management; experience with source code repositories (Bitbucket, GitHub).
  • Knowledge of web application security vulnerabilities and common attack vectors (e.g., OWASP Top 10).
  • Experience with security assessment tools (Burp Suite, Nessus, OWASP ZAP, Snyk, etc.).
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerization (Docker).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and teamwork; ability to align security goals with business objectives.
  • Experience leading a small team and facilitating stand-up meetings is a plus.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices in an Agile environment.
  • Knowledge of encryption, authentication mechanisms, and secure coding practices.
  • At least 5 years in software development/engineering with programming/scripting skills (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby).
