Software Engineering Leadership Opportunity

Job Description Overview

The Commercial Systems unit is comprised of seven engineering teams that collaborate closely with other engineering and business teams. We are seeking software engineers for these teams:

  • The Billing team designs, develops, and operates a scalable service to turn metrics into billable amounts, enabling customers to view their current spend at any time, and ensuring accurate billing.
  • The Contracts team designs, develops, and operates a service as the single source of truth for all customer contracts.
  • The Livepatch team designs and develops a service for delivering Linux kernel patches to shrink the exploit window for critical vulnerabilities.
  • The Ubuntu Pro backend team designs and develops backend services for the delivery of Ubuntu Pro, the most comprehensive subscription for open-source security.
Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing engineering solutions leveraging Golang.
  • Leading technical designs, code reviews, and implementation.
  • Deploying and operating developed services.
  • Couching, mentoring, and offering career development feedback.
  • Developing and evangelizing great engineering practices.
Requirements and Qualifications

Requirements include:

  • An exceptional academic record from high school and university.
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative narrative.
  • A track record of exceeding expectations to achieve outstanding results.
  • Experience with software development in Golang.
  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.
  • A result-oriented approach with a drive to meet commitments.
