About the Role

The Dean, School of Health Professions and Science, will provide strategic guidance and vision for the School, as well as leadership of the administrative team, professional staff, and faculty.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Instructional Program Development: Work with faculty, staff, and administrators to plan and develop instructional offerings, including courses, degrees, and certificate programs.
  2. Faculty and Staff Management: Develop and direct the instructional staff and faculty, including making recommendations for appointments, evaluations, and retention.
  3. Budget Management: Develop and manage the school's instructional budget, including prioritizing needs and administering approved budgets.
  4. Instructional Process Facilitation: Guide the selection and review of instructional materials, work with the library staff to ensure research resources are available, and identify opportunities for funding.
  5. Strategic Planning: Participate in the College's strategic planning process and collaborate with other Schools and offices to share ideas and resources.
  6. Non-Credit Program Management: Manage non-credit health care education programs in the Community Education Division and build alignment between credit and non-credit programs.
  7. Assessment and Evaluation: Support assessment activities at the course, program, and School levels.
  8. External Partnerships: Participate in and initiate external partnerships and relationships to support program development, enrollment, and other strategic goals.
  9. Grant Management: Coordinate with the Grants Office to manage grants and projects associated with grants.
  10. Student Support: Work with students and faculty to address student issues and resolve complaints and appeals.
Organizational Relationships
  1. Responsible to the Provost/Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs for performance of assigned responsibilities.
  2. Coordinates work with members of the School's administrative team and the other Schools.
  3. Oversees Program Directors, Associate Deans, staff, and faculty within the School of Health Professions and Science.
  4. Serves on the President's Cabinet and the Provost's Leadership Team.
  5. Works with Executive Dean, Pocono Campus, and Leadership Team(s) for Community Education and Fowler Campus.
Qualifications
  1. Education: Preferred doctorate in a health care or science-related academic discipline from a regionally-accredited institution.
  2. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) knowledge of current concepts in administration of instructional programs of all disciplines under supervision; (b) ability to function effectively as a member of an instructional and managerial team; (c) ability to plan and manage projects; (d) ability to develop and update programs; (e) effectively able to communicate with students, faculty, and administrators; (f) ability to adapt to differences and changes in programs, colleagues, students, and community characteristics; (g) ability to make decisions that serve students and other stakeholders of the College; (h) skills in interpersonal relations, including emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, and restorative practices; (i) technological, technical, and managerial skills appropriate to the position; (j) ability to work with and relate to community college students, community, and internal constituencies.
  3. Experience: (a) at least five (5) years teaching experience in higher education, preferably at the community college level; (b) demonstrated competence in an administrative role in a higher education or equivalent setting; (c) industry or community experience that is relevant to one or more academic programs and/or local stakeholders.
