Braskem, a global leader in the production of bio-based materials, aims to reduce carbon intensity through technology development utilizing bio-based feedstocks. The company has established state-of-the-art facilities in Brazil and Massachusetts, bringing together scientists and engineers from various disciplines to develop novel technologies for bio-based chemicals and materials.
Responsibilities:- Develop upstream conceptual process design for fermentation-based technologies emerging from discovery teams in lab. This includes all steps from feed preparation, seed train, and fermentation sections of the flowsheet.
- Collaborate with the fermentation development team to guide experimental work toward commercial process design, ensuring technical targets are set based on commercial process economics.
- Plan pilot plant testing programs according to conceptualized commercial designs to ensure key risks are mapped and mitigated as the technology progresses through scale-up.
- Build strong relationships while working closely with firms operating or constructing pilot plant fermentation units.
- Generate technology transfer packages in collaboration with the fermentation development team for upstream sections of bioprocesses. Serve as fermentation process experts during pilot and demo testing.
- Support process safety reviews for emerging technologies.
- Owning responsibility as an expert on process technologies and deliverables of Process Design Packages (PDP) for commercial design and engineering.
