Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day finance activities, including month-end closing, SOX auditing, and year-end closing. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all accounting standards and assist in finance-related projects and systems implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, reconciliation, and payment.
  2. Monitor and process A/P email inbox.
  3. Perform three-way matching of invoices, up to 100 plus line items, and process non-PO invoices.
  4. Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
  5. Audit invoices against purchase orders, research/reconcile discrepancies, and process payment runs.
  6. Audit and process credit card payments in G/L and reconcile vs PO activity.
  7. Prepare and process weekly check runs.
  8. Provide remittance to vendors.
  9. Verify the accuracy of outstanding checks.
  10. Respond to vendor inquiries, reconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepancies.
Audit/SOX Compliance
  1. Ensure process documentation remains up to date.
  2. Perform assigned Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and internal control testing.
General Ledger, Accounting, and Other Support
  1. Ensure AP subledgers tie out to the GL.
  2. Ensure that the "Received goods not invoiced" report is reconciled each month.
  3. Post all cash receipts to customer accounts.
  4. Record all cash activity.
  5. Take ownership of assigned month-end closing processes.

Requirements and Experience
  1. Associate Degree in Accounting required.
  2. 3+ years' experience in accounts payable and general administrative duties within a corporate/manufacturing environment.
  3. Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  4. Thorough understanding of day-to-day accounting functions.
  5. Strong understanding of general business practices and procedures.
  6. Proven ability to multi-task in rapidly changing environments.
  7. Ability to make judgments such as resetting priorities is essential.
  8. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a positive attitude.
  9. Needs to be proficient in MS Office Suite.
  10. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
