The Patient Services Representative Apprentice plays a crucial role in supporting clinics. This entry-level position is designed for recent graduates of youth apprenticeship programs and provides hands-on experience in patient services.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify and update patient demographic information, insurance coverage, authorizations, referrals, and diagnosis codes using internal systems and insurance portals.
- Schedule and manage patient appointments, hospital orders, and visit types in accordance with schedule advisor guidelines.
- Collect and document co-pays and co-insurance, reconcile cash drawers, and ensure accurate financial transactions.
- Manage incoming correspondence, including sorting faxes and general communications, to support clinic operations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff on pre-visit planning and audit physician schedules to ensure proper authorization and management of overbooked appointments.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Recent graduate of a youth apprenticeship program.
- High school diploma from a public or charter school.
- Commitment to obtaining Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) certification within three years of employment.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
