About the Role

Metso Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our Global Product Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and engineering support for project execution and development of equipment in our assigned product line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise and supervision on projects
  • Provide local and global expertise and support in design, fabrication, quality assurance, sourcing, and troubleshooting
  • Perform calculations to ensure the safe function of equipment for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit
  • Prepare mechanical drawings to facilitate fabrication, construction, and installation for equipment or services
  • Visit customer offices and plants to determine physical restrictions or limitations for refurbishment, upgrade, or retrofit
  • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge, principles, and best practices to meet customer requirements and specifications
  • Perform risk assessments of mechanical and control systems designs to comply with internal and external safety standards
  • Show a commitment to quality, ethics, and safety
  • Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Prepare design ideas and solutions for mechanical equipment and review drawings and parts bills for accuracy
  • Investigate mechanical problems and propose corrective actions and/or repair procedures
  • Provide technical support to field service representatives
  • Utilize computer hardware and software effectively to perform duties
  • Participate in training seminars (internal and external)
  • Maintain awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in mechanical engineering
Requirements
  • Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering degree
  • 10 years of design experience in engineering equipment for the mining, mineral processing, or similar heavy industries
  • Strong experience using 2D and 3D modeling software, preferably Inventor
  • Experience using a FEA modeling package is a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP and other Microsoft Office Products; Power BI is a plus
  • Ability to manage engineering work in multiple projects
  • Capability to make decisions independently while working as part of a team
  • Advanced in English, spoken and written; Spanish is a plus
