Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to join our team at Mastercard. As a key member of our Retail & Commerce – Brazil team, you will be responsible for developing relationships and driving revenue growth through merchant accounts.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Revenue Generation
  • Manage deals, OCIs, and contracts to drive revenue growth
  • Prepare and present quarterly business reviews
  • Oversee client portfolios to maximize revenue potential
Customer Focus
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with clients
  • Provide quick responses to customer inquiries
  • Sell the right products to the right customers
Deal Formalization and Approval
  • Prepare business models for review with supervisors and finance
  • Manage the B-smart process (input and approval process)
  • Coordinate legal reviews
Event Coordination
  • Organize Mastercard events
  • Coordinate client events
  • Attend industry events
Merchant Acceptance
  • Implement Mastercard's innovative solutions
  • Collect merchant feedback
  • Track and manage merchant portfolio initiatives

Requirements

  • Bilingual Portuguese and English, with Spanish as a plus
  • Excellent analytical skills, including financial forecasting and competitive analysis
  • Superior presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Proven ability to develop business relationships at all levels, particularly with C-level executives
  • Results-oriented and customer-focused
  • Strong sales and business development background, preferably in the retail industry
  • Experience in issuing or acquiring can be an asset
  • Deep knowledge of the retail environment, with a focus on high street retail, supermarkets, soft retail, department stores, oil, and T&E sectors
  • Ability to understand and execute key operational aspects and attention to detail
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical capabilities, and business acumen
  • Selling skills, with the ability to initiate, pursue, and close sales, as well as strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, with an MBA as a plus
  • Proven track record of project management capabilities
  • Team player with a hands-on attitude and strong collaboration skills
  • Strong market knowledge, with the ability to navigate market peculiarities

Experience

  • At least 07 years of relevant experience in sales and business development at market leaders in the business that provides services or goods to retailers
  • Or similar/equivalent relevant experience with market leaders in the payments industry serving retailers
  • Sales and account management experience is preferred, as is local market experience

  • Candidate should demonstrate a level of business acumen and thought leadership that delivers customer-focused, solution-oriented results
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of leading a team and working in a matrix environment
  • Customer-focused, dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to sell to senior management

Education

  • College degree required
  • MBA is a plus
  • Advanced business degree preferred
