The role of a Security Officer can be performed in various sectors and roles. This position description outlines the general duties and acts as a guide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patrols of busy university campuses on foot and by e-bike
  • Identification and correction of security risks
  • Effective radio communications
  • Detailed and accurate incident reporting
  • Effective incident response and management
  • Building patrols, including integrity checks
  • Customer service, responding professionally to stakeholder enquiries
  • Visibility and deterrence
  • Assisting with control room operations
  • Alarm monitoring and response
  • Preservation of student safety
  • Crowd control and event supervision
  • Well-presented at all times
  • Effective communication skills
  • Responding to client queries and complaints
  • Escalation of complaints to the appropriate manager
