Job Description

At our organization, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for coding accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

The Coding Specialist will be responsible for reviewing clinical documentation to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for all billable services. They will ensure coding accuracy in alignment with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer requirements. Additionally, they will apply coding modifiers correctly to support medical necessity and payer rules.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in medical coding, preferably in behavioral health, dementia care, or related specialties.
  • CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) required; CPC-A considered with relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Familiarity with Athena EHR and billing system preferred.
  • Understanding of payer-specific rules, including Medicare and value-based care programs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills for provider and team interactions.
