Job Description:

As a Customs and Border Protection Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the nation's borders and enforcing laws related to international trade and travel. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect individuals and conveyances, determining their admissibility into the United States while preventing the entry of prohibited goods and contraband.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations
  • Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel
  • Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances
  • Determine the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States
  • Prevent the illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods, and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband
Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must have a combination of experience and education that demonstrates your ability to apply laws and regulations related to importing and exporting merchandise to and from the United States, as well as enforcing and administering laws relating to the right of persons to enter, reside in or depart from the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Additional Requirements:

You must be a U.S. citizen and have primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years. Additionally, you must be referred for selection before reaching the 40th birthday, and may be eligible for an excepted service Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). Successful completion of the CBP Field Operations Academy is required for this position.
