Job Overview

The role of a Data Engineer is pivotal in designing and implementing data acquisition and ETL processes within Microsoft Azure to facilitate enterprise reporting needs. This position involves responsibility for integrating multiple technical datasets from ServiceNow, PeopleSoft, and vendor systems into a central Azure SQL Database, ensuring cleansed, reliable, and query-ready data is available for downstream dashboards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines in Azure Data Factory to automate ingestion from APIs, files, and vendor systems.
  • Design and optimize SQL stored procedures, scheduled jobs, and views in Azure SQL Database to ensure efficient data management.
  • Apply robust data governance and quality checks to guarantee dataset accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaborate with technical staff and subject matter experts to document sources, transformations, and dependencies.
  • Deliver clean, structured datasets to Power BI developers for informed decision-making.
  • (Optional) Utilize Alteryx or similar tools for advanced data transformations to enhance data quality.
Required Skills
  • Expertise in Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, SQL Database, Blob/Data Lake).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (stored procedures, scheduled jobs, indexing, views).
  • Proven experience in ETL development (batch + scheduled pipelines).
  • Solid understanding of data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Power BI data models.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
