Scientist I

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scientist I to join our Protein Sciences team at OraSure Technologies. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for developing new and improved products, including the generation of key reagents used in the assessment of infectious diseases.

• Perform laboratory experiments to develop new and improved products, under the supervision of Director and Senior Scientist.
• Execute lab procedures as directed, identify and communicate problems, corrections, and changes immediately.
• Record results in laboratory notebooks as per GLP requirements, learn and excel in processes that support our quality system, including preparation of documents as required for products.
• Help generate and transfer relevant documentation to manufacturing for product transfer.
• Work as part of interdepartmental project teams with other OTI personnel.

• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science, such as Biology with an emphasis on microbiology and/or biochemistry.
• Prior lab experience is required. Experience with bacterial and cell culture work, PCR, electrophoresis, purification, and common laboratory tools, instruments, and procedures is preferred.
• A working knowledge and willingness to adhere to laboratory procedures and lab safety is required.
