Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Employment Counsel to manage employment matters across Latin America, driving compliance and growth for our operations in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide expert legal advice on employment law matters throughout Latin America, ensuring high-quality guidance and support.
  2. Assist in developing creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes, leveraging expertise to drive business success.
  3. Partner with departments to build scalable and compliant processes and templates, promoting efficiency and best practices.
  4. Maintain current knowledge of national and local laws across the region, staying up-to-date on changing regulations and requirements.
  5. Assist with and supervise employment-related disputes and litigation, including liaison work with outside counsel.
  6. Participate in creating and delivering training related to employment law matters, sharing expertise and building capacity within the team.
  7. Potentially manage up to 2-4 other attorneys, providing leadership and guidance to support team success.
Requirements
  • Qualified to practice law in Brazil or another jurisdiction in the LATAM region, with a strong understanding of regional employment laws and regulations.
  • 5-8 years of combined employment law experience, including law firm practice and/or in-house roles, with a proven track record of success.
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail, with expertise in drafting and negotiating employment termination agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations on difficult and sensitive labor and employee relations matters, showcasing sound judgment and discretion.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a strong advantage, with language proficiency enhancing candidate suitability.
  • Sound legal judgment, creative problem-solving ability, and analytical skills, with the capacity to think critically and make informed decisions.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
