Job Title: Data Engineering Manager

The primary objective of this role is to comprehend the company's data-related requirements and develop a high-performance, self-service Customer Data Platform (CDP) with robust pipelines. This includes ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, security, data quality, profiling, documentation, lineage, and more.

As a technical leader, you will oversee the development and implementation of data pipelines and platform solutions, guaranteeing the quality, reliability, and scalability of these systems. You will be responsible for discussing business and engineering requirements with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a technical reference for your team;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of data pipelines and platform solutions, ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability;
  • Be willing to be hands-on, when needed;
  • Discuss business and engineering requirements with analysts, engineers, and stakeholders on a deep level and anticipate risks;
  • Build a great team by recruiting and developing talented individuals;
  • Evaluate the performance of team members, providing regular feedback, and identifying opportunities for their growth;
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the team and ensure they are aligned with the overall business objectives;
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization to understand their requirements or explain technical concepts;
  • Advocate for the value of data analytics and engineering within the organization and foster a data-driven culture.

Requirements:

  • Recognize that people are the most important asset and have extensive experience in people and careers management within the data career field;
  • A very technical manager who can discuss data event-driven architecture in a modern stack paradigm;
  • Someone with background in both Data Platform and Data Pipelines;
  • Expert in dimensional data modeling (star schema or snowflake), with knowledge of technical concepts and best implementation practices;
  • Proficient in SQL and Python, passionate about writing clean, performant, and maintainable code;
  • Understand the data lifecycle and concepts such as architecture, lineage, governance, privacy, etc.
  • Fluent in cloud infrastructure, such as AWS and GCP;
  • Experienced in designing and implementing event-driven architectures;
  • Keep up with the evolution of technologies and best practices in the data engineering domain and seek to apply them in the team's routine;
  • Someone with good communication skills, to collaborate with multiple stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Design, Data, and Ops team);
  • Able to deal with uncertainty;
  • Able to define the strategic roadmap connecting with the business priorities and evolving the tech capabilities as setting the right expectations with the stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English is mandatory for this position.
