Financial Trainer

The Financial Specialist Trainer – Principal Professional plays a pivotal role in the Controller's Office at the Penn State College of Medicine. Key responsibilities include training and oversight of grant, budget, and fiscal matters.

• Develop a comprehensive training program for new financial staff to ensure seamless onboarding and effective knowledge transfer.
• Implement routine process audits and develop process improvements to optimize efficiency and productivity.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on budget management, grant management, and financial control, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Field questions related to ledger and clearing accounts, offering clear explanations and solutions to complex financial issues.
• Provide training on data compilation, forecasting, and financial document review, equipping staff with the necessary skills to make informed decisions.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of funding policies and regulations, ensuring compliance and adherence to industry standards.
• Perform assigned audit functions and assist with annual processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.

• Proven experience in financial training and development
• Strong knowledge of budget management, grant management, and financial control
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
