Senior Hardware Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Hardware Developer to join our Controls & Automation team. As a senior embedded hardware developer, you will be responsible for the design, development, qualification, system integration, and production of new products.

This role involves engaging with system architects and software architects to define hardware requirements, designing and developing embedded hardware circuits, PCBAs, FPGA modules, including component selection, schematic drawing, PCB layout, and prototype building. You will also conduct functional verification of embedded hardware circuits, PCBAs, FPGA modules, electronic sub-assemblies, collaborate with various teams to design and develop embedded hardware products, create test and verification procedures, and write test reports on functional, environmental, system operation mode, and manufacturing testing of custom embedded hardware designs.

• Design and Development: Define hardware requirements with system architects and software architects. Design and develop embedded hardware circuits, PCBAs, FPGA modules, including component selection, schematic drawing, PCB layout, and prototype building.
• Verification and Validation: Conduct functional verification of embedded hardware circuits, PCBAs, FPGA modules, electronic sub-assemblies.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams to design and develop embedded hardware products.
• Test and Verification Procedures: Create test and verification procedures and write test reports on functional, environmental, system operation mode, and manufacturing testing of custom embedded hardware designs.

Requirements:

• Digital Electronic Design: Expertise in digital electronic design, high-speed serial communication interfaces, control, processor, network interface design on SoC platforms.
• Embedded Software: Extended understanding of Central Processing Units, microcontrollers, embedded software, and signal processing techniques.
• VHDL and FPGA Design: Advanced knowledge of VHDL and FPGA design and verification methodologies.
• Languages and Tools: Experience of LT SPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, Python, and Intel (Altera) Quartus. Knowledge of C, C++, assembly language or other embedded software languages.
• Schematic Design and PCB Layout: Schematic design and PCB layout using ECAD tools like Altium Designer or equivalent.
• Lab Instruments: Experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers, communication analyzers, signal generators, and simulators.
• PCB Layout Optimization: Expertise in PCB layout for optimal component placement, reduced stray inductance/capacitance, improved manufacturability, and EMC compliance.
• DFX Requirements: Experience in embedded hardware design optimized for DFX requirements (manufacturability and testability).
• EMC Compliance: Understanding of EMC requirements and CE certification relevant to embedded controller design in control system applications.

Qualifications:

• Education: BSc, MSc, or PhD in electronics, automation, cybernetics, or a related engineering field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of industrial experience in relevant embedded hardware development and industrialization.
