Senior Database Engineer

This position involves participating in a large-scale database migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
- Maintain data integrity and automate processes during migration.
- Over 10 years of relevant industry experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server or other major RDBMS database systems.
- Proven track record of maintaining, analyzing, debugging production systems on cloud platforms such as AWS.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Unix Shell, and Python.
- Experience debugging and maintaining production systems on cloud platforms like AWS.
- Support large-scale database migration efforts from Microsoft SQL Server to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Support and maintain database systems during and after migration ensuring high performance, security, scalability and availability.
- Collaborate closely with various teams across the organization to enhance performance, security, scalability, availability, reliability and observability of relational databases.
- Apply modern database management practices using DevOps principles including CI/CD pipelines automation tooling and Infrastructure as Code for AWS-based data services.
- Design and manage database schemas implement monitoring solutions and optimize SQL queries and database system performance.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose database issues effectively communicating root causes and solutions.
- Participate in incident response activities ensuring quick efficient resolution of database-related issues.
- Standardize observability practices for database telemetry logs and events to reduce mean time to identify issues.
