About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team of engineers working on the Uber Delivery-Direct platform. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for building, mentoring, and managing a team of engineers to deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of our partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly own and manage a team of engineers passionate about learning and iterating with velocity.
- Challenge engineers to design and develop highly scalable, robust, and innovative systems.
- Build trust and foster a collaborative team culture that encourages open communication, feedback, and growth.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams to identify, prioritize, and solve complex problems.
- Mentor and develop engineers to achieve their career goals and contribute to the growth of the team.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering field (e.g. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, etc.).
- Strong ability to architect and design robust, high-scale systems and to challenge engineers to think bigger and more generically in developing their solutions.
- Experience working with multi-functional, globally distributed teams to coordinate work and deliver solutions that span multiple teams.
- Collaboration with product managers, designers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams to identify, prioritize, and solve problems.
- Track record of managing, recruiting, and retaining strong engineering talent and growing effective teams.
- Desire knowledge about large-scale, distributed systems, including SQL/NoSQL storage, transactional updates, asynchronous processing with message queues like Kafka, logging, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
