HVAC Refrigeration Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Refrigeration Technician to join our engineering team at Fairmont Austin, a luxury property in the heart of Austin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

• Maintain and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure they operate efficiently and effectively.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues to identify and resolve problems quickly.
• Perform routine maintenance to ensure systems operate at peak performance.
• Replace defective parts and components to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations to protect yourself and others.
• Keep detailed records of all work performed and parts used to track system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Communicate effectively with superiors to explain issues and solutions.
• Work independently or as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives.
• Perform emergency repairs as needed to minimize disruption to operations.
• Test refrigeration systems for leaks and other issues to ensure system integrity.
• Calibrate refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to understand system design and operation.
• Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Train and mentor junior technicians to develop their skills and knowledge.
• Collaborate with other departments as needed to achieve common goals.
• Ensure proper disposal of refrigerants and other hazardous materials to protect the environment.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
• Consistently offer professional, engaging, and friendly service to internal and external guests.
• Answer radio calls and complete guest-related service requests within 30 minutes.
• Complete non-guest related work order requests as scheduled in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with all duties in the Engineering Department, including mechanical repairs, electrical work, and painting.
• Keep a detailed logbook to track system performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Dedicate to exceptional guest service, both to internal and external guests.
• Multi-task effectively to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Complete requests in a timely, accurate, efficient, and knowledgeable manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in refrigeration or HVAC technology preferred.
• EPA certification card.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial HVAC and refrigeration.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration systems and components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environments.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
• Proficiency with tools and equipment used in HVAC and refrigeration repair.
• Ability to keep detailed records and documentation.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
• Experience with computer-based diagnostic tools.
• Ability to perform emergency repairs.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.
• Proficiency in the above areas and a good foundation in all other areas.
• Previous hotel experience is an asset.
