Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Junior Technical Consultant to join our team at the United Nations. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the development of a report on climate vulnerability in the municipalities of Areal, Sapucaia, Sumidouro, and Petrópolis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Technical Consultant in the development of the report
  • Conduct research on recent impacts of rains and landslides in the state of Rio de Janeiro
  • Systematize data and information on the selected municipalities
  • Support the visit of selected municipalities to validate information and discuss priority projects
  • Provide an integrated perspective on basic urban services and their vulnerability to extreme weather events
  • Support the preparation of a list of priority actions aimed at enhancing the resilience of the selected cities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Urban Studies, Economics, International Relations, Law, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Climate Change, or related fields
  • Minimum of four years of experience in project/programme management on urban and resilience-related themes
  • Good computer skills in Windows and Office packages and Web search engines
  • Good knowledge of data sources and data analysis

Working Conditions:

The consultant must be available to travel to the places related to the activities in the country, if requested by the National Officer for Brazil and/or the International Officer.

Remuneration:

The consultant will receive an amount of BRL 19,080 to be paid in three installments upon the presentation and approval of the following products:

  • Payment 1: Upon delivery and approval of Product 1 (BRL 6,360)
  • Payment 2: Upon delivery and approval of Product 2 (BRL 6,360)
  • Payment 3: Upon delivery and approval of Product 3 (BRL 6,360)

Language:

Fluency in Portuguese is required.
