Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Software Platform Engineering Manager to lead our engineering teams and drive optimization of Ubuntu for the latest x86, ARM, RISC-V, s390x and POWER systems.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to shape the future of our platform and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers to deliver high-quality design and code solutions
  • Oversee commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery on agreed project milestones
  • Participate as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures
  • Implement disciplined engineering processes to drive efficiency and quality
  • Integrate and maintain platform-oriented software stacks
  • Optimize Ubuntu for the latest hardware platforms
Requirements
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages
  • Experience with Linux and operational systems software (e.g. kernel or user space)
  • Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or other distro packaging
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams
  • Strong professional written and spoken English skills
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience working with open source communities and licenses
  • Familiarity with computer architecture of x86, ARM, RISC-V or s390x
  • Understanding of build systems and toolchains, including cross-compilation
