Nurse Manager for Emergency Response

Job Summary

This position provides oversight to nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, nursing assistants, translators, and non-medical provider staff, as well as patient care during emergency responses.

Main Responsibilities
  • Represent International Medical Corps in coordination meetings.
  • Ensure pharmaceutical supply chain management, monitoring pharmaceutical use, stock, and procurement.
  • Support timely assessments, data management, proposal development, and reporting.
  • Supervise nursing staff, nursing assistants, and translators to ensure proper patient flow throughout the operation.
  • Ensure effective patient triage via a complete understanding of triage systems used by the operation.
  • Provide direct patient care in diagnosis and treatment in primary emergency healthcare when necessary.
  • Ensure all necessary items are supplied throughout the health facility.
  • Ensure nursing staff is aware of infection control standard operating procedures.
  • Identify educational needs of nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Monitor healthcare delivery to ensure patients have up-to-date patient cards.
  • Follow procedures concerning infection prevention and control.
  • Assist doctors during clinic rounds, record necessary medical information.
  • Make detailed reports at the end of each shift in the report book.
  • Ensure staff is trained to log new patients and complete all paperwork.
  • Attend and participate in relevant clinical meetings, providing meeting reports and recommended follow-up actions as required.
  • Ensure the isolation tent has proper PPE for communicable diseases.
  • Assign and supervise IPC nurses.
  • Support and assign staff throughout clinical activities where there are gaps and delays.
  • If an adverse event occurs, ensure proper communication, documentation, and corrective action is executed as required.
General

Deployed personnel are expected to assist with the setup, maintenance, and demobilization of clinical spaces and base camp as required.

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct, maintain humanitarian principles, and respect international humanitarian law.
