Director of Engineering

**Role Overview**:
As Homebound technology expands, we are creating an Engineering Center of Excellence in **Central America**, **South America**, or **Europe**. We are seeking a seasoned and enthusiastic leader to drive this expansion. You will take a hands-on approach to deliver technology by building and managing a team of software engineers. You will develop technologies with a long-term outlook, build for scale & security, establish trust with the engineering teams and colleagues from all areas of the business. We are seeking a leader with a history of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide ongoing leadership of Homebound's Technology team
- Collaborate with colleagues in other Homebound locations
- Expand, lead, manage, nurture and inspire the software engineering teams that span multiple product areas
- Interface with local legal, accounting and regulatory partners to ensure all local laws and regulations are followed
- Oversee and guide the design and delivery of multiple products
- Define and manage a set of key performance indicators (leading, lagging indicators) across product delivery lifecycle; drive outcomes for our business by setting goals and actions against these KPIs
- Support our ambitious growth goals by recruiting the best talent to further strengthen our teams
- Actively contribute to the development of Homebound products according to agile principles
- Ensure a productive, inspirational, and modern work environment for our teams
- Encourage a growth mindset with continuous learning and improvement of our processes
- Build Homebound's engineering brand by proactively following software engineering industry trends, presenting at conferences, meetups, etc. and being an enthusiastic Homebound advocate both in the local community and worldwide
- Travel to the US for technical leadership meetings 2-3 times per year

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- Seasoned leader with minimum 10+ years of related experience managing the software delivery process end-to-end
- People manager, ideally responsible for a mid-sized area or department (30+ people)
- Proven track record of working for a US-based technology company focused on software product development (ideally, with some tenure in USA)
- Highly analytical, data-driven and process-oriented mindset
- You strive in a culture of innovation - always exploring ways to say yes and try out new ideas and living outside your comfort zone.
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- Leadership and interpersonal communication experience in working across many disciplines with internationally dispersed teams

- Your written and verbal communication skills are top notch. You can distill key points out of complex technical descriptions to share with non-technical stakeholders, adapting your language and style of communication depending on the audience
