**Senior Specialist, Community Engagement and Social Performance**

Inclusion and capacity building with local communities is the key to successful project delivery. In a practice that’s growing in Brazil, you will be part of Hatch’s international Community Engagement and Social Performance Practice that collaborates with clients, communities, stakeholders, regulators and Hatch’s engineering teams to create mutually beneficial and sustainable mining, energy and infrastructure projects. Hatch is currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Community Engagement and Social Performance, that will be an integral part of a growing practice in Brazil. As the Senior Specialist, Community Engagement and Social Performance, you will deliver the following:

- Develop innovative solutions that enhance our clients’ social performance by developing programs for a range of stakeholders, including but not limited to: Indigenous groups, communities, academia, non-governmental organizations, government, media
- Design and deliver capacity development programs consistent with the social performance goals of operations teams, delivering shared benefits and value to stakeholders
- Record, research, identify and anticipate any social risks to project development in compliance with international development standards plus legislative, lender and investor requirements, including solutions to meet these challenges
- Development of rights and consent programs on behalf of clients to support vulnerable populations
- Assist Hatch teams in managing relations with federal and subnational regulatory bodies part of client socio-economic and environmental licensing prerequisites
- Work internally and externally to develop proposals and bids to support growth of the Community Engagement and Social Performance Practice in Brazil and South America
- Share your experiences with colleagues and clients at speaking events, networking events, conferences, webinars and through internal Hatch channels

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in communications, public policy, sustainability, conflict management, or other applicable field
- Five+ years demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, social performance or other applicable field
- Creative and approachable with a willingness to recommend innovative solutions with clients while working independently and with the wider team
- Well-versed permitting and approvals and regulatory requirements across Brazil
- Experience working on major mining, energy and/or infrastructure projects
- Willingness for both domestic and international travel as work requires
- Entrepreneurial soul willing to drive growth of the Hatch Community Engagement and Social Performance practice while executing work for clients on a day-to-day basis
- Solid verbal and written communications, ability to represent the business externally, including engagements with clients and regulators
- Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables
- Fluent in Portuguese (fluent) and English (fluent or near-fluent) languages
